Agnes Scogin

Agnes Scogin, 86 of Ft. Oglethorpe, entered her Heavenly home on March 20, 2017. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
Agnes was raised in Murfreesboro, TN and lived in Fort Oglethorpe, GA for the past 52 years. She has attended Moriah Baptist Church for several years.
The late Herbert James Holden, Jr., the late William Fore, the late Forrest Scogin, and the late Roger Johnson preceded Agnes in death. She is survived by her five children, Sharon DeLorme (Dean), Wayne Holden (Becky), Bessie Newbille (Leon), Donna Mathena (the late Shayne Mathena) and Mark Holden (Lisa), and six step- children Teena Camp, Forrest Scogin (Margo), Deanna Kelly, J.R. Fore, Diane Johnson Vincek (Mike), and Scott Johnson (Kristine).
Known to her ten grandchildren as Grandmama, they include… Amy Chapman, Michelle Johnson, Jennifer Parker, Becky Nance, Taylor Warren, Eric Wilson, Adam Wilson, Matthew Holden, the late Michael Jolly, Kyle Holden, Melanie Williams, Allen Scogin, Kaitlyn, Jared, and Erin Vincek, Madeline and Sam Johnson and 17 great-grandchildren.
Agnes worked at Deck’s Glassware and at Hutcheson Hospital for many years as a CNA, but prior to that enjoyed being a stay at home mom to her five children. She also enjoyed cooking and having yard sales.
Visitation is at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home on Wednesday 4:00-8:00pm and Thursday 11:30 until the service hour at 12:30 in the Chapel with Pastor Randy Lynn officiating. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
