Tribute

Daphne Johnson, 60, of Ringgold, GA passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at her home.  Daphne was a native of Sweetser, Indiana and also lived in Wichita Falls, TX where she was a 1982 graduate of Ryder High School.  She received her bachelor’s degree in 1994 and her master's degree in 1996 from Union University in Jackson, TN, graduating summa cum laude.  She worked many years as a Human Resources Manager and Safety Manager in the Automotive Industry with Johnson Controls, Purodenso, and Magna Corporation.  She recently retired in February from Kroger as a Safety Manager.  Daphne loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  She had a love for people that was evident with her smile that would light up a room.  Daphne enjoyed life and doing it right, she never met a stranger, and she was hard to beat when playing Words with Friends.  She loved to bowl and play golf with her husband, she was an avid reader, and enjoyed working puzzles and going to the movies.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Johnson; son, David (Shelby) Johnson; parents, Lee and Donna Counterman; brother, Chris (Andrea) Counterman; sister, Fredericka (Jim) Paragas; two grandchildren; and several nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations may be made to the Catoosa County Library at 108 Catoosa Cir. Ringgold, GA 30736 in memory of Daphne Johnson.

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 at 1:00p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
