Doris A. Strickland, 79, of Ringgold, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at her residence.

Doris was born May 20, 1938 in LaFayette, Georgia to the late John Cecil & Jewel Doran and graduated from LaFayette High School.  She was retired from the Walker County School System where she worked in food service.  Doris also enjoyed cooking for Applebrook & Joyland Day Care Centers.  Her strong faith in God was evident as she ministered with her late husband, Rev. C.F. Strickland, over the many years having taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, working in the bus ministry and any job uplifting the name of Jesus.  She loved reading her bible, cooking, working in her yard and spending time with family and friends.  Doris was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Chickamauga, and, in addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marion Louise Strickland, and brothers, Cecil & Roger Doran.

Doris leaves to cherish her memory her son, Mark Strickland, Rossville, and daughter, April (Dale) Waller of Chattanooga; grandson, Tanner Vinyard; brother, Don Doran; sisters, Audrey Osburn & Sandra (John) Mastrangelo;  special friends, Jaden, Jacob, Katie, Hamp, Evan & Kamryn.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Mike Wallin & Rev. Tim Owens officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
