Jeri Lynn Griffith-Prater died peacefully in her sleep at a local Health Care Facility Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

She was born on April 5, 1952 to the late Dee Griffith and Elaine Wilson-Hicks in Chattanooga, Tennessee and preceded in death by her brother Rodney D. Griffith.   Jeri graduated from East Ridge High School and Mid-South School of Beauty.  She had a career as a Beautician for over 40 years and graciously cared and loved each of her customers dearly until the time of her retirement due to her illness. 

Jeri was of Baptist Faith, she was dedicated and cherished by her husband, family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling, reading her Bible daily, going to Gospel Singings, singing to her daughter the song “In My Daughters Eyes”,  enjoyed Crocheting and Sewing. Those who knew Jeri knew she was funny with her comments, and enjoyed laughing with everyone.  She was compassionate, respected and loved for her kindness.  One of her favorite Bible verses was “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord.  So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8

Left to cherish her memory is  her husband and best friend William T. Prater “Bill”, Fort Oglethorpe; daughter, Robin Burns & Fiancee Chris Cyree, Rossville ; Step Son, Russell  (Jill) Prater, Birmingham, Alabama; Step Daughter, Amy  (John) Elderige , Tiftonia; Brother & Sister-in-Law,  Fred & Martha Prater, nephew, Brad Prater, niece, Kim Johnson,   grandchildren,  Catlyn Cyree, Court Prater and Leah Cyree.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, at 11:00 a.m. (EST) in the South Crest Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Henegar United Methodist Church Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.  Central Time.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 4, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
