Jerry Wayne McCary, 63, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. McCary was born on October 21, 1954 to the late Jack and Elsie McCary and has been a life-long resident of Chattanooga. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served with the Military Police. Following his military service, he worked as a self-employed carpenter for over 50 years. Mr. McCary was of the Baptist faith and was a member of E. 34th Street Baptist Church in Chattanooga. He enjoyed collecting antiques, drawing portraits, helping others and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for being a loving person and “the peacemaker” to his family and friends. Mr. McCary is also preceded in death by his son, Justin McCary, brothers, Jack, Gene, Bud, Roger, Richard and Perry McCary.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Edna McCary, son, Jeremy (Deidra) McCary, daughter, Jeri (Jerry) Coleman, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth McCary, 10 grandchildren, two brothers, Randy and Kenneth McCary, two sisters, Mary McCallister and Faye Honea, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 1, 2018 in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Daniel Beard officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
