Katherine Dora Hodge Whisenant Boren, 96, of Ooltewah went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 30, 2017.  She was born on August 30, 1920 to the late Horace and Myrtle Hodge.  Katherine was a minister for many years and she loved the Lord.  Her passions in life were God, her family, and her church family.  She loved working for the Lord and seeing lives changed.  She visited nursing homes and hospitals and went on mission trips over the years.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Herman Whisenant; brothers, Alfred and Buddy Hodge; sisters, Ann Burgess, Grace Smith, Rena Nichols, and Jean Watson; and granddaughter, Melinda Brewster.

Left to cherish her memories are husband, James Boren; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Rosie Whisenant of  Social Circle, GA and David and Jackie Whisenant of Centre, AL; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Gary Crawford of Rossville, GA and Caroline and Danny McVay of Ooltewah, TN; three brothers, Grady, Harold, and Tommy Hodge; sister, Doris Hodge, all of Chattanooga area; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Steve Gilbert officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-8p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
