Robert L. “Bob” McKay, 71, of Rossville, the Dewberry Community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 with his family by his side.

Bob was a native and lifelong resident of North Georgia having graduated from Rossville High School class of 1964.  He received his degree in Engineering from E.T.S.U. and retired from Chattanooga Paper Board with 41 years of service.  Bob was a dedicated member and deacon at Fairview Baptist Church and, at the time of his passing, served as an ambassador at Lane Funeral Home-South Crest Chapel.  In his spare time, Bob enjoyed playing golf, farming, and spending time with his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Earl & Mamie Ruth McKay, and brother, Thomas McKay.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Frankie McDonald McKay; his son and daughter-in-law, Luke & Lisa McKay of Ider, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Beth & T.J. Newsom of Rock Spring, GA; grandchildren, Sawyer, Elijah, Samuel, & Sydney McKay, and Matthew & Micah Newsom; sister, Faye Brotherton; sister-in-law, Jeanette McKay; niece, Anita Kay Brotherton; nephews, Jonathan & Joseph McKay.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating.  Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers.   Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Harverster’s Sunday School class and staff members of Lane Funeral Home.  Bob will lie-in-state Saturday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at the church.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
