Alfred “Papa” Fountain, 90 of Chattanooga, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away Tuesday, February 26th in a local hospital.
Alfred was born in Alabama City, AL on March 2nd, 1928 but settled in Chattanooga in the late 1940s after serving in the U. S. Navy. He was the owner and operator of A.L. Fountain and Sons painting Company for over 50 years.
Alfred was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Fountain; one brother, and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Kitty Baker Fountain; children, David (Patricia) Fountain, Bill (Sandy) Fountain, and Darlene Kidd; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-children; three brothers, three sisters, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 1st, 2019 at 1pm in the Calvary Church of the Nazarene at 4400 Bonny Oaks Dr. Chatt., TN 37416 with Reverends Preston Brown and Michael Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends, Thursday from 4-8pm in the South Crest Chapel and Friday from noon until the funeral hour at the church. Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
