Barbara Janet Foster

Barbara J Foster passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 4, 2021. She was born on June 8, 1936 in Sidney, Ohio and moved to Chattanooga in the early 60s when she married Ernest F Foster. She lived with her daughter Karen, son-in-law Donnie and their two children, Nick and Nathan since the early 90s .

Barbara was preceded in death by her son, John Reker and Mary Foster West.
She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Foster Peppers and Georgia Foster Lapkovitch, her granddaughter, Barbie Foster Smith, whom she helped raise from a newborn  baby, and 12 other grandchildren, many great- grandchildren, and great-great grand- children , including the most recently added Mavis Huskey and Levi Cramer. She was also survived by her loving sisters Judy Atwell and Rita Roberts, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was of Baptist faith through the years and worked until retirement at AutoZone in Chattanooga Tennessee. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to Las Vegas as often as she could, and loved to work crosswords and  jigsaw puzzles, and you would always be sure and be watching a game show if you were sitting with her in the last few years. She also loved getting her nails done in the recent year by her “adopted” grandson, Jae. He became her favorite in the last year, we believe, because he always did such a great job massaging her hands and feet.

Barbara loved her family unconditionally, loyal to her many friends, and fiercely protected all those that needed and deserved her love. Her wisdom was unmatched and shared with those smart enough to absorb it. She will forever be in our hearts and never forgotten by those lucky enough to have known her.
