Barbara Ann Hancock, 78 of Rossville, GA passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 in her home.
Barbara was born and raised in the Chattanooga area and was of the Christian faith. She attended Kirkman High School and earned her associates degree in Business Management from GA Northwestern Technical College. Barbara retired after many years of service with Dixie Yarn as an Assistant Purchasing Director. She also worked in the GA Northwestern bookstore while studying for her degree and as a private caregiver. She took great pride in caring for her patients and loved them dearly. Barbara loved to travel, especially to the lake, camp, and be with her family. She was a 50 year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagle #2942, she held every chair including “Madame State President.” Barbara worked very hard to earn money for countless charities and always did things from her heart. She was dedicated, hardworking, fiery, had a great sense of humor, a big heart, and was known to sacrifice in order to help others. Barbara is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Ada Hughes; son, Jeff Hancock; sisters, Betty Young and Millie Van Dyke; brothers, Dude and Richard Hughes; and grandson, Jeremy Hancock.
Survivors include her husband of almost 59 years, Franklin “Red” Hancock; children: Rhonda (Rick) Waddell, Franklin E. Hancock, and Billy (Karen) Hancock; grandchildren: Brittley, Chris, Brooke, Matthew, Hannah, Racheal, Andrew, and Jessica Hancock; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Franklin Hughes, Kenneth Hughes, and David Hughes; sister, Carolyn Patterson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21st, 2022 at 1pm in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
