Betty Sue “Maw Maw” Hicks, 84 of Rossville, passed away Wednesday, July 15th, 2020 in a local hospital.
Betty was born in Lafayette, GA, lived in Chattanooga, but spent the last 51 years in Rossville. She attended Oak Grove Elementary, Eastside Junior High, and Kirkman High School. Betty attended Philadelphia Baptist Church for 22 years and spent most of her time caring for her household. She enjoyed flowers, family gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Viola Gribble; siblings: T.C. Gribble, Joe Gribble, and Ann Owen; and son, Tony Hicks.
Survivors include her husband, JW Hicks; sons: James (Vickie) Hicks and David Hicks; Kay Hicks who was married to the late Tony Hicks; granddaughters: Amy (Allen) Morgan, Laura (Robert) Streets, and Kasey (Michael) Davenport; great grandchildren: Courtney Morgan, Chase (Rhionna) Morgan, Mikasia Davenport, Junior Davenport, and Hope Streets; great great grandchildren: Charlotte Morgan and Emerie Morgan; siblings: Pauline (Gene) Cross, Harold Gribble, Doris (Fred) Miller, and Judy Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18th, 2020 at 1pm in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Bill Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that all those who attend funeral services to please wear a facial covering.
