Billy Ray Cofer, 90 of Chickamauga, passed away Tuesday, May 19th, 2020 in a local health care facility.
Billy was raised in Rossville, Ga and attended Rossville High School. He was a proud veteran of the US Army having served in Japan and was a member of the Chattanooga local VFW. Billy retired from Dupont after over 30 years of service as a sheet metal specialist. He also ran his own Heat and Air business after getting off work at Dupont. Billy was known as a hardworking man who proudly supported his family. He was an active member and deacon at Rossville Church of Christ; volunteering in many areas of the church. In his free time, Billy enjoyed fishing, but his passion in life was his family.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Roberta Morrow Cofer; son, Eddie Cofer; parents, Ed and Nadie Cofer; sister, Hazel Broyles; and brothers, Charles and Robert Cofer.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Tapp Cofer; sons: Dennis (Rose) Cofer and Michael Cofer; daughter-in-law, Edna Louise Cofer; loving sister-in-law, Ghanell Forester; grandchildren: Robin (Tommy) Harris, Wesley Cofer, and Cheri Cofer; great grandchildren: Christina Harris, Andrew Cofer, and David Wooten; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 26th at 1pm in the South Crest Chapel with Jack James officiating. Webcasting is available on Lane’s website. Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
