Brenda Sunderland Cox, 69 of Rossville, went home to be with her Lord peacefully at home on Thursday, May 9th, 2019 surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Brenda was born in Hixson, TN but lived most of her life in the North Georgia area. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of McFarland United Methodist Church. Brenda graduated in 1967 from Hixson High School and earned her Master’s degree in Education from Middle Tennessee State University and was a tireless educator in the Walker County School system for 26 years. During her career she taught at: Cedar Grove Elementary, Rock Spring Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Rossville Junior High, and Ridgeland High School where she retired in 1999. Brenda will always be remembered as an understanding and dedicated teacher who will be missed by all who knew her.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyte Green and Ruth Hammond; son, Ronnie Sunderland; and brothers, Glen, Ronald, and Donald Green.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years Robert “Bob” Cox; daughter, Jennifer (Ric) Metcalf; grandchildren, Zoie Metcalf, Laci and Noah Sunderland; three-step children, Janet, Cricket, and Eddy; eight step-grandchildren; two great step-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 13th at 6pm in the South Crest Chapel with Ric Metcalf officiating. A private entombment will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens South.

The family will receive friends, Monday from 12pm until the funeral hour in the South Crest Chapel of Lane funeral Home & Crematory located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
