 Clarence Calvin Broeker (Calvin), 92, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, of Fort Oglethorpe, GA went to be with his Lord on July 13th, 2017, at home, surrounded by his family. 

 

Born the son of Clarence and Ada Broeker, Calvin enlisted in the Navy in 1943, and served his country during WWII, achieving the rank of Yeoman Second Class.

 

Calvin returned to his hometown of Youngstown, NY where he met and married his loving wife. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Audrey Broeker.  Together they had six children, 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren with one son having predeceased them.

 

Calvin and Audrey traveled and enjoyed their large family before retiring to Florida in 1985 and spent 20 years there before moving to Fort Oglethorpe, GA in 2005.Calvin was a devout Lutheran and a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Youngstown, NY. He worked at Elia Building Company for 20 years in Niagara Falls, NY and he loved his work. Calvin had a passion for gardening and was always tending to his flowers and beautiful lawn. He loved just spending time at home with his family and will be greatly missed by all that he touched.

 

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice of Chattanooga and their wonderful staff for their compassionate care given to Calvin. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Rd #102, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Chaplain Pat Davis officiating.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
