Catherine Elizabeth McMahan, 95, of East Ridge, went home to be with her Lord on June 11, 2017.

She was born in Noble, Georgia on October 11, 1921, the daughter of the late Flora Hollis and Deed McWhorter. Catherine attended City High School. She worked in food services at East Ridge Junior High School for many years, serving food and smiles to many young people. For much of her life, as her health would allow, she was an active member of East Ridge Baptist Church, bringing her warm and welcoming spirit every Sunday. Catherine was a kind and dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. She loved and served her Lord faithfully and lived comforted by his work in John 3:16. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Roscoe T. McMahan.

She is survived by her children, Joe (Vivian) McMahan, Jerry (Debbie) McMahan, Buddy (Paula) McMahan and Janet (Carl) Frazier: grandchildren, Wendy King, Jody McMahan, Britt McMahan, Heather McMahan, David and John McMahan, Chad Frazier and Beth F. Vanderpool, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
