Catherine (Lofty) Pitts

Mary “Catherine” Pitts, 92, of Chattanooga passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at a local hospital.  Mrs. Pitts was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga.  Being a mom is what she loved.  She was a great cook, she made her children’s clothes, enjoyed curling their hair, and her home was always open to others.  Mrs. Pitts loved gardening, working with her rose bushes, sewing, quilting, and shopping.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Pitts, Sr.; son, Fred “Mickey” Pitts, Jr.; 2 brothers, Henry Lofty and Winford Lofty; sister, Erlene Lofty; and son-in-law, Morris McNabb.

Survivors include her daughters, Gail (Don) Kirk, Sandra (Roger) Tuder, and Donna McNabb; two sisters, Christine Keyt and Shirley McDaniel; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday at 12 noon in the South Crest Chapel with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-8p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
