Charles Edward Sturgill

Charles Edward Sturgill, 82, of Rossville, Georgia went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at his home.  He found Jesus as his Lord and Savior, December 29, 1968 and followed him from that time forward.  He was a deacon, bus pastor, Sunday School teacher and youth pastor at churches in Greenville, South Carolina and Charleston, Illinois. He pastored churches in Horace, Illinois and Pound, Virginia.  He moved to Rossville, Georgia 9 years ago and found his church home at Stanley Heights Baptist Church. 

Preceded in death by his parents Edward & Jacqueline Sturgill and his brother Doug Sturgill. 

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Peggy Bond Sturgill of Rossville, Georgia, daughter Kathy (John) Groves of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Grandchildren JC (Kym) Groves, Laura Groves and Daniel (Tiffany) Groves; ten great grandchildren: Adaley, Kaden, Colton, Corbin, Kenzie, Lucas, Brogan, Katie, Stella and Karoline.

Graveside service will be at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, Virginia on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge.
