Chester, “Chet” Larry Blalock, Jr., 59 of Ringgold, passed away Friday, March 19th, 2021 in his home.
Chet was born in Chattanooga, TN and raised in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas. He was a proud US Air Force veteran and was a 1979 graduate of East Ridge High School then earned his associates degree in Polysomnography from UAB. Chet worked at Memorial Hospital for several years doing sleep studies, and served several years as a prison guard at Hayes before opening his own gym where he pursued martial arts. This was his passion in life and he was the owner and operator of Blalock’s IMB/MMA for 26 years. Chet was a certified Master Kickboxing instructor and Muay Thai instructor, he held various degrees of black belts in: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Jeet Kune Do, and Tae Kwon Do among other forms of martial arts. He was an extremely driven and charismatic man who was the life of the party. Even when he wasn’t at work, Chet studied fighting videos to better perfect his skill and teach his students.
Chet was preceded in death by his father, Chester Blalock, Sr.; brothers, Stevie Blalock and Benjamin Blalock.
Survivors include his children; Jessi Blalock (Fiance’, Nic Lyons), Kelly Blalock, Eli Blalock, and Lielanie Dacoregio; mother; brother; grandchildren: Braden Jac, Georgia, Ronan, Cyrus, Atticus, Enoch, Oalin, Lorena, and Liliana; niece and nephews; Cassidy, Cody, and Chandler and their children, Carson and Azalea; and countless students and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 29th, 2021 and 2pm in the Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with military honors.
