Delano O. Martin

Delano O. Martin, 82, went to his heavenly home on April 16, 2018. A native of West Virginia, he lived many years in the Atlanta area and most recently made his home in Chickamauga, GA. Preceded in death by his father, John Martin and mother, Ellen Proctor Martin; sisters, Nellie Mae Harper and Jane Pickering; brother, Nathaniel Martin; first wife, Diane Poole Martin.

He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga, GA and a veteran of the US Army. He worked 44 years as a machinist. Serving as a deacon in his ministry to the Lord was what he enjoyed. Those who knew him will remember his kind, gentle spirit and sweet smile.

Survivors are his loving wife, Sue Taylor Martin; son, Daryl Martin of Loganville, Ga.;  daughters, Davina Rooks of Loganville, Ga. and Denise and husband Todd Harris of Winder Ga.; granddaughters,  Sierra Harris, Teighlor Rooks and Samantha Martin; step son - Scott Taylor and wife Manette, Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; step daughters, Sheryl Taylor, Grayson, Ga. and, Susanne Taylor of Greenville, S. C.; step grandchildren, Justin Taylor, Kendra Degenhardt and husband Matt, Shelby Fowler and Spencer Fowler; step great-granddaughter, Kylie Degenhardt; sister-in-law, Linda Martin - N. Ridgeville, Ohio; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Oakwood Baptist Church, Chickamauga, Ga. from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 28,2O18 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00.
