Donnis Rebecca Samples, 82, of East Ridge passed away Monday, December 04, 2017 at a local health care facility.  She had lived most of her life in East Ridge where she was a member of the Greens Lake Road Church of Christ.  Mrs. Samples was co-owner of AAA Appliance Service.  Her passions in life were spending time with her children and grandchildren, working crossword puzzles, cooking, and she enjoyed collecting antique items.  She was a selfless lady who was always doing for others before herself.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Julia Vandiver; three brothers, Mike Vandiver, Fred Vandiver, Jr., and Robert Vandiver; and one sister, Mary Ruth Wade.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Otis Samples; four children, Tim (Kim) Samples of Nashville, TN, Marty Samples of East Ridge, TN, Julie (Ken) Howell of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, and Emily (Chuck) Lovett of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; 11 grandchildren, Zack, Jessica, Dewain, August, Sarita, Rebecca, Alex, Amanda, Rachael, Carrie, and Lee; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Minister Jim Lewis officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-8p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
