Dr. William Pouncey

Dr. William Edison Pouncey, 87 of East Ridge, TN passed away Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 in his home.

Dr. Pouncey was born in Lapine, AL on July 31st, 1933, but had lived in the North Georgia area for many years. He earned his doctorate of Theology from Tennessee Temple University and Covington Theological Seminary. Dr. Pouncey was a caring and devoted pastor to his congregations for over 40 years; a true Shepard to his flock. For 70 years, his childhood sweetheart stood beside him as a devoted pastor’s wife and together they brought many to the Kingdom of God and their parishes loved them both dearly. Dr. Pouncey was a talented musician having played many instruments, but his love was for guitar and piano. He was also a proud US Army military police veteran and will be deeply missed.

Dr. Pouncey was preceded in death by his wife, Hellen M. Pouncey; daughter, Sharon P. Ballon; and parents, Claudie and Ersie Mae Pouncey.

Survivors include his daughter, R. Darlene (Ron) Bolich; son, Michael E. (Kim) Pouncey; seven grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4th at 3pm in the South Crest Chapel with military honors. A private burial will be held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
