Elizabeth (Pritchett) Wetzel

May 14, 1926 ~ January 8, 2019 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Tribute

Elizabeth Pritchett Wetzel, 92, of Ringgold, Ga went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.  She was born in Chattanooga and attended Central High School. Elizabeth worked for F.W. Woolworth, Ling Faidley Printing Company and retired from Walmart of Ft. Oglethorpe. She developed many lifelong friendships during employment with these companies. Elizabeth was a former member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and a current member of Frawley Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Floyd Pritchett and Gladys Howard Pritchett, her husband, Granville “Bud” Wetzel, and sons, Jimmy David and Steve Lynn Wetzel.

Her home going on Tuesday happened on a special date of her life. Her first born son, Jimmy David and her youngest daughter, Cindy were both born on this date. Jimmy was a still born baby and she never got to see him or hold him. She has always been faithful to visit his grave and keep beautiful flowers there. We find comfort that on this day, she was finally able to meet him after 72 years and he was able to welcome his Mother home.

Survivors include daughters, Ann (Stan) Oliver, Cathy (Butch) Ford and Cindy (Steve) Carter, daughter in law, Debbie Maupin Wetzel, sister Joyce Pritchett Mount.  Loved and cherished by 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.  She was very proud to have 2 sets of 5 generations. She was known as Aunt Bibby to her Georgia and Aunt Libby to her Maryland nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services will be held Friday, January 11th, 2019 at 2:00pm in the South Crest Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
