Gail Townsend

Gail Townsend, 67, of Chickamauga went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 02, 2019.  She was a lifelong resident of Walker County where she was a member of Lake Howard Baptist Church in Lafayette.  Gail had worked for Shaw Industries for over 14 years and retired in 2016 from the Chickamauga Senior Center as an assistant manager.  She loved delivering meals to shut-ins and going on outings with the Chickamauga Seniors.  Her passions in life were spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; listening to music; attending church; taking care of others; and gift wrapping.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 51 years, Russ Townsend; and her father, J.B. “Bean” Land.

Survivors include two children, Tyra Shae of Ft. Oglethorpe and Russell (Gwen) Townsend of Chickamauga; mother, Frances Land of Chickamauga; five grandchildren, Chris Hamilton, Jeff Hamilton, Cody Stoker, Whitney Townsend, and Kyle Townsend; and two great grandchildren, Austin Hamilton and Landon Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
