Garmon Turnure

Hillyard Garmon Turnure, 84, of Rossville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in a local health care facility.  Mr. Turnure was born on September 27, 1937 in Chattanooga to the late Bertrand Clifton and Evelyn Durham Turnure.  He had lived most of his life in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area where he attended Kirkman Technical High School and had worked for over 20 years at Shipp’s RV in East Ridge, retiring in the early 2000’s.  Mr. Turnure was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Korean War in Japan.  Mr. Turnure never met a stranger, he was the life of the party, and he loved his family dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Turnure; sister, Antoinette Johnson; and brother, Michael Turnure.

Survivors include his son, Jim (Amy) Turnure; grandchildren, Claire Turnure, Katy Finlay, and Ally Finlay; his two brothers and sister, Bert and Ed Turnure and Evelyn Fitzsimmons, with whom he had a very close bond; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 3rd at 10:30a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.
