Gordon R. Leonard, 90 of Chickamauga, GA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30th, 2021 in his home.

 

Gordon was born in Chattanooga, TN and graduated from Red Bank High School. He was a proud US Army veteran who served in the Korean War. Gordon was a Full Bird Colonel in the Army, but never bragged about his military accomplishments. He started as a lineman electrician and retired as the Safety Assistant Director from EPB with over 40 years of service. Gordon was an active member of the Chickamauga Presbyterian Church and was an Elder Emeritus. He taught Sunday school for many years and loved to study God’s word. Gordon enjoyed painting, drawing, wood working, and carpentry. He was a true Godly man, a friend to many, a loving father, grandfather, and husband. Gordon will always be remembered as a humble, not boastful, unselfish, and modest man who will be missed by all who knew him.  

 

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Preston B. Leonard, II and Eva Leonard; step-son, Gregory Kinard; step-daughter, Alva Kinard; and siblings: Philippa Foster and Ernest Leonard.

 

Survivors include his loving wife, Murrel Leonard; children: Kay (Jerry) Hatfield, David (Melissa) Leonard; step-children: Jeffrey (Cindy) Kinard, Jerome (Tracy) Kinard; step-daughter-in-law, Joan Kinard; grandchildren: Hannah (Matthew) Gunter, Ben Leonard, and Kelsie Leonard; six step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Preston B. Leonard, III; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

Graveside services will be 1p.m. May 18, 2021. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alice Lloyd College 100 Purpose Road Pippa Masses, KY. 41844. Or to the Salvation Army.
