Hugh Wilton Dodson, Jr.

Hugh Wilton Dodson, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 18, 2023. He was born and raised in Altavista, VA and later graduated from Virginia Tech in 1971.  Hugh moved to Bainbridge, GA in 1982 and worked for Amoco Fabrics for 20 years.  Most recently, Hugh has been a resident of Rock Spring, GA for the past 11 years.

Hugh enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and Virginia Tech Hokies football team, playing golf, spending time in his garden picking and canning what he would harvest, and being “Papa Hugh” to his wonderful grandchildren.

Hugh was a member of Morton Memorial Presbyterian Church in Chickamauga, GA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilton and Harriett Dodson.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Dodson of Rock Spring; sons, Trey Dodson of Gallatin, TN and Brian (Tracie) Dodson of Ringgold, GA; daughter, Bethany Dodson (Aragorn) Nanan of Athens, GA; grandsons, Wilton Robert Dodson, Leland Marshall Dodson and Allan Palmer Nanan; brother, Bob (Ellen) Dodson of Altavista, VA and sister, Kathy Dodson of Altavista, VA.
