Irma Anell Young, 98, of Chickamauga, peacefully passed away at home on November 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harvey F. Young, her parents; W. L. & Audna Stout, brothers; Buddy, Jack, Sonny & Larry Stout, sisters; Margaret Calton & Sue Dantzler and daughter-in-law; Namuni Young.
She is survived by her 4 children, Harvey F. Young, Jr., Steve (Beth) Young, Patricia (Lynn) Steele, and Robert Young; sister, Aileen Wyllie, sister-in-law, Peggy Young, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, a special niece Pam Brown, and several other nieces and nephews.
Irma was born in Keokee, VA, married at the age of 19 during WWII after her soon to be husband survived the sinking of the Yorktown. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. Irma was a longtime faithful member of the Mission Ridge Baptist Church.
She was a sweet, strong-spirited, independent woman with the skill and determination to do most anything and to do it well. She enjoyed to bowl, square dance, garden, sketch, oil paint and quilt. Irma took great pride in her many quilts she made. She enjoyed playing Words with Friends and posting pictures on her Facebook page. Irma believed the Sabbath was to be honored by rest as God intended it, and she felt very blessed to have maintained her health and longevity.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers, family and friends who have been so devoted to her care and needs.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 16th at 1:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, Rossville.
