James Calvin Allen, 89 of Flintstone, GA, passed away Monday January 4th, 2021 in a local hospital.
James was born in Jackson County, AL but lived most of his life in Rossville and Flintstone, GA. His family were some of the few that survived the journey on the Mayflower. James was of the Christian faith and was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church. He was a worthy patron of the Eastern Stars, Chickamauga Chapter, for over 25 years and was also a member of the Shriner’s. James was a proud Army and Navy veteran who served his country for several years. He worked as a butcher in the Chattanooga area for the majority of his life. James enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and volunteering at church. He will be remembered as a helpful and selfless man who enjoyed assisting others.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Adcox Allen; parents, George and Elva Allen; siblings: Fred Allen, Pauline Everett, and Robert Allen.
Survivors include his step-son, Jack Adcox, Jr.; sisters, Mable Brazelton, Betty Schmars, and Dorothy Allen ; Step-Grandaughter Lisa Crowley and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 12th, 2021 at 11am in the Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
