James M. Armstrong, 77, of Ringgold went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Mr. Armstrong had lived most of his life in the North Georgia area, was a member of Redemption Point Church in Ooltewah, and served in Germany while in the United Sates Army during the early 1960’s. He worked many years in maintenance at Red Food Stores and he retired from Southern Cellulose in 2000 with over ten years of service. Mr. Armstrong owned and operated J&H Electric for 38 years and he was a member of the IBEW Local 175. Mr. Armstrong was talented with electrical work, wood working, and he and his wife wrote and produced a church play, “The Life of Christ”. He loved the Lord and his family. He also loved to play golf, mow his yard, watch NASCAR, sing gospel music with his family and he was an avid TN Vol fan. Mr. Armstrong coached softball throughout the years and was a Boy Scout leader impacting many lives in a positive way. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Tabitha Armstrong; father and step-mother, John Edward and Madelyn Armstrong; brother, Richard John Armstrong, Jr.; and sister, Jewell Preston.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Helen James Armstrong; two daughters, Rhonda Isbill and Yvonne (Jimmy) Trammell; brother, Jack (Shirley) Armstrong; sister, Linda Rickett; three grandchildren, Blane (Amber) Parton, Kristopher (Amber) Parton, and Chelsea Isbill; four great grandchildren, Blake Parton, Destinie Parton, Kylie Parton, and Dominic Parton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Bishop Travis Ballinger officiating.
Interment will follow in the TN-GA Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
