James B. Williams
July 13, 1937 - June 7, 2019
On Friday, June 7, 2019, James (Buddy) Williams, 81 years young, went to be with the Lord. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 62 years, Rexine (Bond) Williams, and his family in his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, TN, Buddy was born to and preceded in death by parents James Robert Williams and Hallie Elizabeth (Clinton) Williams; brother, John Robert (Butch) Williams; and sister, Martha Jean Williams.
Buddy is survived by his wife Rexine; son, James B. Williams Jr.; daughter, Tina Williams (Todd) Holloway; son, Dale (Angie) Williams, all of Chattanooga. Buddy (Papa) is loved deeply by his grandchildren: Breann Williams, Brenden Williams, Kaitlin Holloway, Kristin Holloway (Houston) Phillips, Allie Williams (Dustin); great-grandson, William Cooper Phillips; Emmie and Bo Gentry; sister, Betty Williams Dill; and several nephews and nieces.
He was greatly respected and loved by many friends and never met a stranger. Buddy would have a story for many of his classic model cars in his collection.
He served 25 years in the Chattanooga Fire Department, retiring in 1985 as Captain. He also spent 20 years in the trucking industry for Mack Trucks.
Buddy served in the National Guard, 181st Service Battery. He was a member of the American Legion Post 95 and Brainerd Masonic Lodge #736. Buddy and Rexine have been members of East Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga for 24 years.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, June 11th at 12pm in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Pratt Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
