James Robert “Jim” Gordon, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday November 21, 2018. James was born in Boswell Oklahoma on March 3rd 1937.
At age 17 James enlisted in the United States Army serving honorably with the 9th Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne in the Korean War. He achieved rank of Master Sargent and was wounded in Combat. James was a proud veteran and loved his country whole heartedly.
James was an over the road truck driver for various companies for more than 40 years. He retired from Highway Transport Trucking Company in Chattanooga TN. James loved fishing, watching rodeo, NASCAR and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club – Chattanooga Chapter and was given the nickname “Pops”
James was proceeded in death by his Loving wife Clara Gordon (Downer) of Chattanooga, parents John Gordon and Nellie Ensy Gordon of Boswell Oklahoma, Brother Walter Gordon of Cartersville GA, and Sister Nelline Spicer of Bovina Texas
James is survived by his son Chris Gordon of Chattanooga TN; brother Lonnie Gordon of Paris TX; sister Adele Gordon Anderson of Dallas TX; three other sons, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2p.m. Tuesday in the South Crest Chapel
Interment will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens West with full military honors.
The family will receive friends 4pm – 8pm. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast TN.
Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
