James “Buddy” Kistler, 82, of Chattanooga passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Tallahassee, FL. Mr. Kistler was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Berlin Crisis, and had been an active member of the Unity Baptist Church. Mr. Kistler was a maintenance man by trade who was very talented with his hands. He was able to build, repair, and work on anything. His passions in life were his family, small game hunting, fishing, helping others, and attending the Avondale Reunion each year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lillian Kistler; and brother, David Kistler.
Survivors include his daughters, Cristie (Greg) Garrett of Tallahassee, FL and Katherine (David Smith) Kistler of Gainesville, GA; sister, Mary K. Antey of Sandy Hook, Connecticut; three grandchildren, James Troxler of Chattanooga, Rachel Garrett, and Shawn Garrett, both of Tallahassee, FL; and nephew, Jamie Kistler.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00p.m. in the South Crest Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8p.m. Friday from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
