Janice E. (Thurston) Holloway, 75 of Rossville, passed away Monday, November 11th, 2019 in her home.
Janice was born in Chattanooga and lived most of her life in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area. She was a 1962 graduate of Central High School where she was a proud member of the “Shove-Off’s” Club. Janice worked as a substitute teacher in the Rossville and Ridgeland schools for over 20 years. She retired from Chattanooga Plumbing after 20 years of service. Janice loved the outdoors especially working in her rose garden and watching the birds and butterflies. She was also an avid and creative seamstress, but above all she loved her girls.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Holloway, Jr.; parents, Harry and Thelma Thurston; and brother, Larry “Butch” Thurston.
Survivors include her daughters: Stephanie (Malcolm) Derby, Stacie (Billy Bluford) Holloway, and Heather (Patrick Black) Holloway; sisters, Barbara (Ralph “Sonny”) Ingle, Susan (Dan) Hobbs, and Becky (Hoyt “Buster”) Phillips; constant companion and beloved cat, Gracie; twelve grandpets; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15th at 1pm in the South Crest Chapel with Steve Brandon officiating. Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
