Jewell "Gram" Downey

Jewell “Gram” Downey, 78 of South Pittsburg, TN went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18th, 2022.

Jewell was born in Chattanooga, TN, graduated from Kirkman High School, and was of the Baptist faith. She was a hardworking woman who could do just about anything she set her mind to. Jewell was a sweet, caring, open minded, and loving woman who was affectionately known as Gram. Family was a priority to Jewell and she spent as much time with her family as she could. Jewell was very creative and enjoyed painting, sewing, and crafting. She read and studied her Bible every day and was a shining example of a Christian woman. She is the best mom and Gram anyone could ask for. Gram, you are deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Jewell is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jewell Goins; siblings: Ed Goins, Mary Smith, and Patricia Gann; and daughter-in-law, Debra Downey.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jimmy “Pop” Downey; children: Jimmy Downey, Tommy Downey, Ronnie (Liz) Downey, and Pennie Downey; grandchildren: Holly Downey (Alan) Bryant, Haven Dakota Downey, Darren (Tracy) Downey, Nikki (Drew) Roark, Danielle Downey, Kevin (Amada) Downey, Brandon (Amanda) Downey, and Jacob Downey; sisters, Marshie Strickland and Elizabeth (Jim) Peckinpaugh; and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 6pm in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Charles Billingsley officiating.
