John D. Michal, 72, of Lookout Mountain, GA passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at a local hospital. John was a native of Salina, KS, was raised in Abilene, KS, and had lived the past 46 years in Lookout Mountain, GA. After moving to Lookout Mountain, John studied Bible at Covenant College later graduating with a business degree. John was the owner/operator of Environment Control in Chattanooga from 1976 to 1988 and he retired as an Insurance Agent for AFLAC in 2013. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam. John had been a member of Reform Presbyterian Church for 22 years having served as Deacon. He was currently a member of Lookout Valley Presbyterian Church serving as Elder and Deacon for the past 24years. John’s passions in life were God, his family, reading mysteries, watching sci-fi movies (especially Star Trek), and serving others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and June Michal; and grandson, Luke Michal.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara Michal; two sons, Paul (Rachel) Michal of Crandall, GA and Mark (Dawn) Michal of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Sandy (Ken) Mai of Kansas City, KS and Jeanette Michal of Pittsburg, KS; brother, Larry Michal of Bartlesville, OK; six grandchildren, Gabe, Jake, Nate, Andrew, Kate, and Esther Michal; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11:00a.m. at Chattanooga Valley Presbyterian Church with Pastor Daniel Gilchrist officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7p.m. at Chattanooga Valley Presbyterian Church 3371 Chattanooga Valley Road Flintstone, GA 30725.
