John "Big John" Ross, Sr.

John A. “Big John” Ross, Sr., 76 of Chickamauga, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021.

John was born in Blue Ridge, GA and was a member of Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church. He retired after over 30 years of service with Synthetic Industries. John enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and going to little league games. He was an avid coin, knife, and gun collector. John was stern, but funny and loved to laugh.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Christine Ross; siblings: Leonard M. Ross, Sr., Otha G. Ross, and Nancy Ross Taylor.

Survivors include his son, John A. Ross, Jr.; grandchildren: Dixie Ross, John A. Ross, III, Luther S. Ross, and Kayden Allen; great grandchildren: J.J. Wells, “Dezi” Wells, Elijah Carter, L.J. Ross, and Brali Ross; brother, Teddy (Connie) Ross; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 28th, 2021 at 1pm in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
