Johnny O. McDonald, 87, of Ringgold went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, surrounded by his family.
He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. Johnny attended Peavine Baptist Church and a member of New Beginnings Sunday School Class. He served his Country with the United States Army and upon his completion with his military service, Johnny retired from Bell South after 39 years of service.
Among his favorite past times he enjoyed reminiscing of his childhood in the Chickamauga Battlefield where he often visited, enjoyed reading and cherished his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Hardy McDonald; parents, William “Boss” and Vivian Crane McDonald; brother, Bob McDonald; sisters, Pat Whitlock and Dottie Bilbra.
Survivors include his daughters, Wendy McDonald Evans; Karen (Rod) Callahan; three grandchildren, Brandi (Jason), Erin and Chris (Abby); five great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; sister, Frankie (David) McKay-Long; nephew, Bob (Connie) McDonald.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Luke McKay and Jimmy Spurling officiating. Private burial will be at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville
