Juanita Rae Shipley Stephenson, 91, of East Ridge, went to be with her heavenly Father on October 6, 2017.

She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and the Lydia Joy Sunday School class. She was a true definition of a Godly woman as stated in Proverbs 31. As one of her grandchildren recently wrote; she was a nurse for over 50 years (graduate of Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing Class of 1947), a strong woman, fierce fighter, amazing cook, wonderful piano player, gift giver, and a gentle loving soul. She always had Sunday dinners around her table and welcomed all who wanted to join. Our lives are forever blessed because she loved us.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Mildred Shipley, husband, Charles Stephenson and sister, Nevada Cooper.

Survivors include her sons, Wesley (Debbie) and Bob (Charlene) Stephenson; grandchildren, Jenny (Adam) Thomas, Josh (Laura) Stephenson, Jessica (Tim) Aslinger, Kasey Stephenson and Lauren (Harsh) Desai, great-grandchildren, Noah and Louie Stephenson, Anna Kate and Madi Thomas, Dolan Lewis and Micah Aslinger; sister, Martha Slagle, a niece and several nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Daily Bread (odb.org).

A private family graveside celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
