June P. Grammer, 95 of Rossville, died peacefully in her sleep early Wednesday morning, November 25, 2020; she joined her husband, Tas Grammer; parents, J.D. and Marie Phillips; brother, Paul Phillips; and daughter-in-law, Linda Grammer.
June was born in Chattanooga and lived her whole life in the North Georgia and Chattanooga area. She graduated in the 1943 class of Central High School and attended college at the University of Chattanooga having studied music. June was a member of East Lake Baptist Church, CrossPath of East Ridge, and Ft. Oglethorpe First Baptist Church. She played piano and organ for 70 years at church, at Lane Funeral Home, and at many special occasions. June shared her piano and organ talents by teaching people of all ages how to play. She was a leader in the Women’s Missionary Union for many years and served many years with the Southern Baptist Convention on foreign mission leadership and education.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law: Robert T. Grammer, Richard (Brenda) Grammer, and Don (Carol) Grammer; eight grandchildren: Leslie, Michael, Lynne, Scott, Allison, Adrian, Alex, and Libby; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 28th, 2020 at 10am in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Jason Thomas and Reverend Dr. Libby Grammer officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
