Kathleen Young, 93 of Chattanooga passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 in a local health care facility.
Kathleen was born in Chattanooga and lived most of her life in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area. She was a lifelong member of the Chattanooga First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School for 52 years and was the Children’s Church Director for many years. Kathleen was known for telling jokes wherever she went. She was a member of the Chattanooga Bell Club and owned over 3,000 bells. Kathleen was also a talented artist and was known for her chalk drawings and her work as an Air Brushing Professional.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie A. Young; parents, John and Mable Cheek; daughter, Kathy Kerley; grandson, Gunnery Sergeant Chad E. Love, Sr.; grand-daughter-in-law, Melissa Love; two sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia “Tricia” (Charles “Eddie”) Love; grandson, Glenn Love; granddaughters, Katie Kerley and Stacey Garner; great grandchildren: Chad E. Love, Jr., Deven Love, Jasmine Love, McKenzie Love, and Preston Love; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, June 24th at 1pm in the Chattanooga First Church of the Nazarene at 5455 N. Terrace Chattanooga., TN with Reverend Eric Johnson officiating. Kathleen will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Chickamauga City Cemetery.
