Kathy Avans

Ruby Kathleen “Kathy” Avans, 77 of Chickamauga, GA passed away Tuesday, January 26th, 2022.

Kathy was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and was of the Christian faith. She was a Regional Manager and Store Manager at Krystal for almost 30 years. Kathy loved to read, especially mysteries, and studied her Bible daily. She enjoyed making paper flowers, playing with her two cats, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Kathy is a kind-hearted and witty woman who will be most remembered for her Biblical knowledge and resourcefulness.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Avans; parents, Pierce and Edith Horton; siblings: Gene Horton, Bernie Baxter, and Rocky Horton.

Survivors include her sons: James (Leslie) Duckett, Carl (Jonette) Higdon, and Stephen (Carrie) Avans; grandchildren: Annie, Shelby, Brooke, Brad, Carly, Lucas, and Emmaleigh; five great grandchildren; siblings: Frances Hill, Tavi Biggs, and Donnie Horton; fur babies, Hazel and Leia; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 30th, 2022 at 3pm in the South Crest Chapel with Dr. Hunter Cummings officiating.
