Vicki, I hope you remember me. We worked together at the Chattanooga Surgery Center. Now that has been awhile ago but I have read about the difficult time you and your family are going through. Please accept my and my family's condolences. I have thought of you often during the years and am thinking of you now. You are one of the kindest people it has been my privilege to have known. Please know you are in my thoughts now,

Kenny was a dear friend who was a true leader on our high school track team. He was also a lovable prankster and hilarious story-teller who saw the good in everyone. I will sorely miss him.

I was so saddened to hear that my beloved friend Kenneth Jackson Seagroves passed away. My brother Jason sent me a selfie of himself and Kenny at a soccer game earlier in the summer, and Kenny looked so happy and healthy. I was one of Kenny's classmates at Rossville High and a member of his track team.

I believe the fast mile time listed is what Kenny ran at UTC, but I can add that Kenny was a true leader on our high school team, and that he shattered the school record in the two-mile as well as the mile. I believe Kenny may have been the only person on our team of about 60 boys that absolutely nobody could dislike!

My favorite memories of Kenny include him playing goofy pranks on people. I need to add that I never saw him play a mean prank. He was also a great sport, and he was always delighted when someone played a prank on HIM. My first memory of Kenny involves him making nickels disappear during a study hall for high school freshmen. Some kid I can't remember was just blown away by the trick. I won't reveal Kenny's exact trick but it involved making a nickel slowly disappear right in front of the viewer. Five minutes after doing the trick, Kenny faced the kid again and asked for another nickel.

The kid was so anxious to see the trick again that he coughed up another nickel. Five minutes later he gave Kenny ANOTHER nickel. I think Kenny did the trick a total of five times. In the end, the biggest question about the trick was how many people were willing to loan the kid a nickel -- knowing it would only disappear. Of course, at the end of class Kenny gave all the nickels back, and so the kid probably made a 20 cent profit. Very few people who sat near Kenny, myself included, got any work done that class.

Kenny would also tell jokes that would split your sides. Sometimes it was because his jokes were so funny. Just as often it was because they were so dumb that they became funny. Once Rossville entered a big track meet with about 20 teams and at least a dozen runners who had run times in the mile that were faster than what Kenny had run. Kenny pulled me aside very seriously and said. "I know how I can win the mile in this meet today. I'm just going to get the lead on the first lap. Then I just won't let anybody pass me."

No one could surpass Kenny for his wit and his good nature. I am not sure if he considered me one of his best friends, but with apologies to the beloved Tim Howell, Kenny was one of my two best high school friends. I suspect I barely cracked his top 20 list because everybody loved him.

We will sorely miss you Kenny. You were a good friend and a great man.

With love,

To say we lost a hero is an understatement. Kenny had a smile every day, a Love for People and his family. He was a mentor to so many of us about the game of soccer. He was always willing to listen, or help in any way he could. our community now has a large void to fill with his passing. Prayers for his family as we celebrate his life and begin to follow Gods plan of life without Kenny.

Kenny was a special person that had an impact on all four of my children who have become referees. My first child developed CRPS while refereeing and he was the one that offered to drive her home when she was hurt and told her to go home when another referee just thought she was trying to get out of working. I am and will be truly thankful for him for that. He was my go to help for anything involving refereeing. I will miss seeing him out on the soccer field and my girls will miss him during referee certification classes. It just will not be the same without him. My prayers and thoughts are with his wife and children. I know we will see him again in heaven and that will give us peace.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Kenny would always say, Hi Red, when he came to check the alarm system at school. He had a great personality and was always joking around. He loved his family with a passion and I know it will not be long until you see him again.

Kenny will be greatly missed by family and friends. In the limited friendship I had with Mr. Seagroves, the humor and genuine love of life was a trademark of this man. He loved his family and was not afraid to show it. You could especially tell if you were loved by Mr. Seagroves if he played jokes on you. He loved to laugh and see others laugh too. He has passed this wonderful sense of humor on to his daughters as I am sure they will pass it down to their children.
It was inspiring to see his walk with Christ continue to advance and grow over the years.
I want to express my deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Seagroves. You are loved and in our prayers.
