Larry Ray Underwood

June 21, 1938 ~ March 19, 2023 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Tribute

Rev. Larry Underwood, 84, of Chickamauga, GA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 19, 2023.  Larry was born in LaFayette, GA in 1938 to the late Mr. Ray N. Underwood and Mrs. Vivian Lowery Underwood.

Larry was a loving husband, father, and a devout Christian.He attended LaFayette High School and later graduated from Mercer Extension with a degree in theology. He was a professional truck driver, retiring from Consolidated Freight Company after many years of service.Larry was a pastor of several local churches and also served as Chaplin for the Teamsters Local 515 of Chattanooga. He was a member of the Masons Crawford Springs Lodge 221.Larry liked to read Biblical books, was a hard worker and adored being Paw Paw to his grandchildren and great grandchild.His loving heart will surely be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

 

He is preceded in death by his birth parents and step mother, Ida Mae Boss Underwood, his brother, Barry Underwood, sister-in-law, Wilma Underwood, and granddaughter, Tiffani Underwood.

 

Larry is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Anita Hall Underwood, children, Ray (Kandi) Underwood, Lisa (Rick) Magro, and Christopher (Heather) Underwood, grandchildren: Ashlin (Manfred) Charboneau, Chase (Morgan) Underwood, Michael Magro, Nick Magro, Trace Underwood, and Bailey Underwood, and great grandchild, Addylin Underwood. Many friends also survive to cherish Larry’s memory.

 

A private graveside service will be held at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Alzheimer’s Association or the Lymphoma Leukemia Society.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Pruitt Healthcare and Park Ridge Hospital McCallie Campus for their loving care of Larry.
