Lee Byrd

Rev. Lee Byrd, 91, of Rock Spring, GA passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 4.

He was a 1947 graduate of Lakeview High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving on active duty during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Byrd, and three children: Ronnie (Darla) Byrd, Marlene (Larry) Bolton, and Steve (Tracy)

Byrd, 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ralph

"Buddy" Byrd. Together they operated the B&B Hardware of Rossville and Byrd's Auto

Alignment of Chattanooga, TN. Brother Byrd accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 12 and served in the church as a Sunday School teacher, choir director and deacon at the Westside Baptist Church of Rossville before accepting the call to preach. He pastored the Mission Ridge Baptist Church in Rossville and the Perennial Springs Baptist Church in Summerville, GA. Visitation will be at the Lane South Crest Chapel on Monday June 6, from 1-9pm and from 10 -12 on Tuesday with the funeral to follow in the Chapel. Burial will be at National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
