Leonard Cameron

Leonard Cameron, 86, of Ft. Oglethorpe passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at a local hospital.  Mr. Cameron had lived most of his life in North Georgia where he attended Walker County Schools and he worked many years in the construction industry.  He attended New Haven Church of God.  Mr. Cameron had a servant’s heart, was a retired pastor, and he had worked as a chaplain in the Hamilton County jail.  He enjoyed singing, listening to Southern Gospel music, and playing his guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lilly Cameron and six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Cameron; eight step-children; five brothers, Clifford, Clarence, Johnny, Ronald, and Billy Cameron; sister, Nellie Coleman; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in the South Crest Chapel at 1:00p.m. with Pastor Daniel Dowden officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 18, 2021 from 4-8p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
