Margie Presley

Margie Smith Presley, 93 of Chatsworth, passed away Monday, November 9th, 2020 in her home.

Margie was born in Athens, AL but spent most of her life in the Cumberland Mountain and North Georgia areas. She was a member of Woodhaven Church of Christ and formerly attended Westside Tunnel Hill Church of Christ. Margie worked in administration at Lake Winnepesaukah for 20 years and greatly enjoyed her job. She loved her family and entertained her grandchildren with a weekly “night with Gran” where she would cook for them and watch movies. Margie also enjoyed writing and would often correspond by letter with her family and friends and was known for including stickers in every letter she sent. She was also an amateur actress and appeared in “Blue Butterfly” as the grandmother to a returning soldier. Margie was one of a kind and will be dearly missed.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, John Presley, III; parents, Samuel and Ollie Smith; daughter, Loretta Hinton; grandson, Chuck Hinton; and ten siblings.

Survivors include her children: Loraine Hinton and John (Sherry) Presley IV; grandchildren: Shane (Tiffany) Hinton, Heidi Hinton, Jenny (Scott) Casey, Kyle (Holly) Presley, Samuel (Ammelia) Presley, Olivia (Francis) Francia; and Victoria Presley; 15 great grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Louis (Elizabeth) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 12th, 2020 at 2pm in the South Crest Chapel with Brother Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
