Marguerite S. Heifner

Marguerite S. Heifner, 94, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022.

She was a lifelong resident of North Georgia, born and raised near Chickamauga where she met her husband of 68 years. Marguerite worked in the carpet industry in Chattanooga, serving in management roles for Heritage Carpet Mills in the early 60s, and later at Hartford Carpet Mills, retiring in 1992.

She was an active member of Fairview United Methodist Church for many years, where she taught an adult Sunday School class, sang in the choir, served on the administrative council and the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Marguerite was a spiritual mentor to many people over the years. She had a sweet, loving spirit that was apparent to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Heifner, and sisters, Helen Lane and Olyse Jann.

Survivors include her sister, Martha (Tom) Penney; nieces and nephews, Tina Lane Paul, David Brinkley, Mark Brinkley, Shannon Brinkley, Tanya Jann, Thomas Penney, and Leigh Sellers; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 12pm in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. David Harr officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers, Cedartown, Georgia (murphyharpst.org).

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11am until the funeral hour in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
