Marilyn Sue Westbrook, 78 of Rossville, GA passed away comfortably at home in her bed surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 26th, 2022.
Marilyn was born on April 4, 1944 and was the only child to Daisy Eledge and Thomas Oles in Marshall County, TN. At four years old, she had to accept her father’s American flag and Purple Heart for giving the ultimate sacrifice for his country in WWII. On June 5, 1971 she married Thomas Oliver Westbrook, Sr. Together they owned and operated two bars in Chattanooga, TN during the mid to late 1970s. The Driftwood Inn on 23rd Street and the Big House on Broad Street. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Marilyn worked as a CNA for NHC of Northwest Georgia and very much loved being a care giver. She raised five wonderful children. Marilyn was a very caring, loving, and overall amazing woman. Everyone who knew her loved her very much. She enjoyed going dancing with her brother, Jerry, sister, Wanda, and best friend, Marsha. She never met a stranger and is loved greatly, forever missed, and never forgotten. “Goodbyes are forever so I’ll be seeing you later for one day we will be together once more…”
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Westbrook, Sr., parents, Thomas Oles and Daisy Eledge; best friend, Marsha Morrison; brother, Jerry Eledge; sister, Tersea Thomason; and son-in-law, Michael Gaddis, Sr.
Survivors include her children: Karen Gaddis, Joyce (Mike) Myrick, Joe (Carla Hess) Westbrook, Kimberly (Tommy) Ruth, and Dorris Westbrook; grandchildren: Mollie Myrick, Mallorie (Danny Hudnall) Ellis, Mikey (Angel) Gaddis, Stephanie (Travis) Moore, Stephen Brown, Brittney (Brat) Ruth, Benny Carrol, Bubba (Brooke) Ruth, Joe Westbrook II, Blair (Brandon Newman) Westbrook, Allen McCloud, and Danton McCloud; great grandchildren: Dominic Ellis, Sarah-Sue Ellis, Mason Rhodes, Khole Cahoon, Kaden Cahoon, Madison Gaddis, Jaxtyn Brown, Ashton Moore, Waylon Newman, Ashlynn Blackwell and Emma Horne; brother, Donnie (Brenda) Eledge; sisters, Mary Ruth Smith, Linda Teters, Wanda Lindner, Gloria (Danny) O’Neal; lifelong friends, Mitch Green and George Boshears; and many many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 9th, 2022 at 2pm in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
