Martha Loyd

Martha Elizabeth ”Lib” Loyd, 88 formerly of East Ridge entered into her Eternal Rest Sunday, January 5, 2020. Lib was born in Jamestown, Alabama and moved to Chattanooga in the early 1950’s.  She retired from Dixie Yarns after 50 years of service in the Payroll Department.  Lib was known for her tenacity to ensure employees were paid correctly.  She served on the Board for Dixie Yarn Credit Union and played softball with the Dixie Yarn Ladies Softball team.     Lib loved God and faithfully served Newnan Springs Methodist Church as a Sunday School Teacher for the 1st and 2nd Grades for approximately 50 years.    

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Winnie Loyd; brother, Charles Loyd; sister-in-law June Johnson Loyd,

Survivors include David & Donna Johnson of Ooltewah, Patrick, Lesa & Porter Johnson,  Phoenix, Arizona,   Hailey, Steven, Kate & Ellie Johnston, Cleveland, Kendra & Phil Nitz, Nashville, cousin, Betty Loyd Weldon, Montgomery, Alabama, dear friends, Marie and Gladston Everett.

The family wishes to thank Dr. David B. Elias and his staff and the staff at Morning Pointe of Collegedale for their kindness and special care.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
