Martha Castings Newport

Martha Castings Newport, 64, of Chattanooga passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at a local hospital.  Martha was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga where she was a 1972 graduate of City High School.  She retired from TVA in 2009 after a 29 year career.  She served in various Administrative Assistance roles and spent the last several years of her career as a Procurement Agent.  Martha attended McFarland United Methodist Church throughout the years.  She had a strong love for family.  She loved her son dearly and her granddaughter brought her so much joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Newport; parents, Walt and Laura Jo Castings; and brother, Walter Castings, III.

Survivors include her son, Zackery Newport; brother, Gary (Faye) Castings; granddaughter, Emery Aurora Newport; two nieces, Stefanie (Jeremy) Castings Wynne and Laura (Dewayne) Castings Wisner; and one nephew, Grant (Amanda) Castings.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 4:00p.m. in the South Crest Chapel.

Interment will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2:00p.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
